Illustration Licensing: Fridix, a Brand Built to License
Client: Personal project, own brand created with licensing in mind
Context: Fridix is a character IP with Mexican visual identity, focused on social-emotional education for girls: helping them identify, name, and process their emotions, with the core message that it’s okay not to feel okay all the time.
My role: Full concept creation, design of the main character and its supporting universe, with a focus on developing an own brand suitable for illustration licensing.
The challenge: Combining three elements that almost no children’s character brings together today: real social-emotional depth, authentic Mexican visual and cultural identity, and an honest, non-idealized character tone.
Process: Development of the character’s emotional arc, design of a supporting universe of characters. The project has materialized into a coloring book published on Amazon, with an active presence on Instagram as the main channel and TikTok as a secondary one.
Deliverables:
- Main character design, Fridix
- Supporting universe design
- Coloring book published on Amazon
- Visual identity for social media
Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop
Result: An active project in development, with a book published on Amazon and a growing community on Instagram and TikTok. Currently in the audience-building phase, with no licensing agreements closed yet.
