Product Development: César Millán
Client: César Millán (personal brand, internationally recognized dog trainer), through his Cesar’s Pack and Cesar’s Way lines
Context: Expansion of César Millán’s personal brand into physical product, across two lines: Cesar’s Pack (merchandise using client-provided Paul Frank-style artwork) and Cesar’s Way (pet food and accessories).
My role: Product development applying the brand guide and artwork provided by the client for the Cesar’s Pack line, plus packaging design for the Cesar’s Way line, including sourcing and coordinating manufacturers for each category.
The challenge: Consistently applying a client-defined brand guide across six very different product categories, keychains, jewelry, t-shirts, tote bags, food packaging, and car seat cover packaging, each with its own manufacturing process.
Process: Starting from the client’s brand guide and artwork for Cesar’s Pack, product development was applied across each merchandise category. For Cesar’s Way, spec sheets and packaging design were developed for wet food (multiple flavors) and the seat cover packaging. In both cases, sourcing and evaluating specialized manufacturers by material (textile, jewelry, flexible packaging), through to final delivery.
Deliverables:
- Brand guide application: keychains, jewelry, t-shirts, tote bags (Cesar’s Pack)
- Wet dog food packaging, multiple flavors (Cesar’s Way)
- Car seat cover packaging (Cesar’s Way)
Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop
Result: Product development across six distinct categories under two brand lines, managing manufacturers end to end, from applying the brand guide to physical delivery.
