Furniture Design: 12 Wrought Iron Chairs for Erick Millán
Client: Erick Millán, interior designer
Context: Erick Millán wanted to turn his garden into an oasis, with a set of 12 wrought iron chairs as the centerpiece of the space.
My role: Illustration and design of the king and queen figures incorporated into each chair; ironwork fabrication was handled by the client.
The challenge: Designing 12 distinct illustrations of royal figures, each with its own personality, that would work both as standalone art and as designs applicable to a functional wrought iron structure.
Process: Conceptual development of the royal figures, detailed illustration of each of the 12 pieces, ensuring each design retained elegance and character once translated into ironwork.
Deliverables: 12 illustrations of royal figures (kings and queens), one per chair.
Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop
Result: A complete set of 12 illustrated wrought iron chairs that transformed Erick Millán’s garden into a space with its own identity, a clear example of an illustration becoming a functional physical product.
